TR Motorplex… A Year In Review

By: Steve Collier

As we approach the one year anniversary of opening our new location in Miamisburg (September 24), I will take the time to reflect on the past year.  When we opened we started clean with a new track, new timing system, and new location.  As we lived up to our name, the 2005 Turkey Nationals were a success and we saw several new racers that it might have been their first Turkey Nationals, or first in a while.  As the winter began so did a new points season.

The points in every class; were close as we brought back an old classic class, Super Street , and adjusted the index.  Also, with the new stream of customers that began racing, we offered a beginners bracket class.  I saw growth in several new racers through this class which only made competition a lot tougher.  Then the nationally known Nostalgia Nationals came around where we had a great car show and big car counts.  This year was one of my best racing because of all the great competition.

January was a busy month as we had the three day bracket championships that are molded off of Moroso’s five day.  The big money winner of that weekend was Bill Curtis.  I saw a lot of people that came to the new location and were curious what it was like to race at one of the best tracks in the country. As the 2006 US Nationals rolled around, I knew that this was going to be one of the best.  The entries were great at the US Nats and so were the track records as they dropped as more passes were made on the track.

The T/R Pro Series was an ongoing series once a month where we had class cars that got their shot at the track.  Now, as the 2006-2007 season approaches quickly, there will be a lot of changes.  Some changes are a race series between our track and Bullitt Speedway for both sportsman and pro classes.  Also, there will be a sportsman series with our track and Raceway Alley in Middletown .  Our major races will stay the same with the Turkey Nationals, Nostalgia Nationals, Junior Bracket Nationals, Three Day Bracket Championship, US Nationals, and other specialty races.

Well, all I can say is that this year will be even better than last year because of the new index classes and great races lined up.  I look forward to meeting some new people and some great racing.  Thanks for taking the time to read this.
